'Experimental Dubstep Vol 4' marks the fourth installment of this exciting
new series from Producer Loops. Jeff Rhodes, creator of 'Ambient Glitch',
'Dance Glitch', and co-creator of the 'World Tek' series, delivers FIVE
outstanding Construction Kits packed full of immovable basses, irresistible
grooves, and synths stacked chest high.
Jeff wanted to create some compelling set pieces for your audio movies to
take place in. A sense of place and space, somewhere things happen, grow,
and change unexpectedly over time, while also leaving room for musicians to
add their own heroes and villians, and decide the ultimate course of events.
With a unique and quirky vibe, 'Experimental Dubstep Vol 4' takes that
familiar half time groove and infuses it with experimental processing,
abstract melodies and dizzying electronic ambience – perfect for all of
you mad-dub-scientists out there!
All loops are recorded at 140 BPM in this unmissable volume, so you can
mix and match between the kits and use them in many other styles of music.
The Production Process:
Jeff Rhodes, producer of 'Experimental Dubstep Vol 4', describes the production
process - "After hearing too many more-of-the-same broken-powertool-FX
dancestep style tracks, I tried to avoid a lot of the cliches and just
focus on unique synth tones, and clear mixes. Dubstep is a lot of different
things already, so if this is one more flavour, then that seems all the
better."
Far away backwards sounds turn into grooving basslines and crispy leads.
Unexpected breaks take twists and turns, then rise back to a steep plateau.
The arrangements remain familiar enough, but there's still room to get lost
in the sound.
Some new rhythms are explored in this volume and new tricks to achieve them
of course. From gated synths, to triplet delays, retriggered notes, and
anything in between that made the sounds move in subtle and interesting ways.
Filtering and distortion still get used, but always in the course of trying
to find a new way to shape the mood.
Reverb gets over-done, and then withheld, as the clouds part and the sun
spills through. Some edges get sharpened, while others get smashed into
submission and rounded off for the sake of the whole.
From dense to sparse, and all shades of Dub, these kits will give you tons
of ideas and still leave you plenty of room to be yourself.
All Kits are provided in a uniform tempo ensuring that they slot together
effortlessly and are available as ACIDized WAV, Apple Loops, REX and Reason
ReFill.
